Mahwah
Township resident to be honored at awards dinner
Andrea B. Waldman of Mahwah will be one of 42 women honored at the 31st Annual Tribute to Women and Industry Awards Dinner, sponsored by the YWCA of Central New Jersey at the Parsippany Hilton on May 26. Waldman is director of consumer activation and creative services at Merck Consumer Health Care Company in Roseland. She was nominated for this honor by Barbara Graham at Merck & Co., Inc. Since 2004, Waldman has been the director of consumer activation and creative services at Schering-Plough Consumer Healthcare, now Merck Consumer Care., Inc. In this role, she leads the team who develops and implements activation programs for all the division’s brands. Her creative services department manages the development of consumer and retailer communications. Prior to joining ScheringPlough, Waldman was the senior director of consumer promotion at Kraft Foods. She has also held positions of increasing responsibility at M&M/MARS, Warner-Lambert, and at agencies servicing Gillette and Unilever. She attended the University of Illinois at Champaign, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising, and American University in Washington, DC, where she earned a master’s degree in human resources. The TWIN program originated in New Jersey in 1975 and was introduced to Central New Jersey in 1979. Now a national and international awards program of the YWCA, TWIN annually recognizes outstanding businesswomen and their companies. Its mission is to honor women who have excelled in their fields and made significant contributions to industry in executive, managerial and professional roles, and to salute corporations whose policies and practices encourage high achievement by women and who promote equal advancement opportunities for women of diverse background. Through TWIN, the YWCA encourages women to consider and to prepare for a wider range of career opportunities and to help make significant contributions to the workplace. TWIN stimulates, in a positive way, an increased awareness of untapped talents of managerial and professional women in the corporate world. TWIN honorees share their involvement with young women entering industry, serving as career speakers, role models, and mentors to students and women of all ages.
