Ramsey Boy Scout Eric William Stephen of Troop 31 has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. This is the top honor possible for a Boy Scout. For his Eagle project, Stephen managed the upgrade of two camp sites at Camp Glen Grey in Mahwah. He created a project plan, developed a budget, and raised funds to cover the cost of the entire project. He built and installed a field sink and with the help of a large group of volunteers (156 man hours), installed two charcoal grills, and replaced a latrine roof.
Eric Stephen earns top honor in Boy Scouting
Stephen began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub in Pack 175 in September 1998. In 2003, he earned his Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting’s highest award. In February 2003, he bridged to Boy Scout Troop 31, which is chartered by the Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. He progressed through the ranks, achieving First Class in May 2005, Star in February of 2007, and Life in March of 2008. He has fulfilled his leadership requirement by serving as a Den Chief for Pack 175 from September 2005 through March 2010. His position as Den Chief ended when he welcomed the Den 4 Webelos as they crossed over to Troop 31. He had been with them since they were Tigers. He has earned 21 merit badges. For three years, he attended NoBeBoSco summer camp with the troop and participated in the troop’s High Adventure Trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He also participated in his troop’s winter camping trips; a canoe trip; historical hikes in Philadelphia, Boston, and Gettysburg; two trips to the New Jersey State Troopers Jamboree; five and dime hikes in Harriman State Park; and numerous merit badge fairs. He has attended nearly all troop meetings and outings. Stephen is an active member of Saint Paul’s Parish, serving as a Sacristan, a member of the Social Concerns Committee, and as a member of the Youth Group.
Bosh named first soprano
Ciara Bosh, a freshman at Ramsey High School and the first Ramsey DARE Idol winner, has been accepted into the 2010 All State Women’s Chorus as a first soprano.

He was an altar server for five years. Currently a senior at Ramsey High School, Stephen plans to study mechanical engineering at Fairfield University in Connecticut this fall. He plans to continue with Scouting and has registered as an Assistant Scoutmaster with the troop.
