Ramsey
Arrest announced
On May 3, the Ramsey Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Squad investigated two juvenile females’ reports of lewd acts and unwanted sexual contact committed against each of them while they were employed as waitresses at a pizzeria located in the borough. Prior to the police investigation, the two juvenile females disclosed this information to their mothers. Both of the victims were employed at the pizzeria earlier this year. During their duties, the owner’s son would make unwanted sexual gestures and advances at the beginning of their employment. This led to criminal sexual contact against both of the juvenile females. It was also reported that the man exposed himself to these victims. On May 4 at approximately 3:40 p.m., the 29-year-old man was placed under arrest by Detective Brian Huth of the Ramsey Police Department. He was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a minor, fourth degree; three counts of criminal sexual contact, third and fourth degrees; and two counts of lewdness, fourth degree. On May 1, Patrolman Adam Macaluso investigated an aggravated assault at a Route 17 restaurant. At the conclusion of the investigation, a 39-year-old Mahwah man was arrested. Also on May 1, Patrolman Craig Weber was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Wyckoff Avenue. During the investigation it was determined that the driver, who struck a telephone pole, was intoxicated. A 65-year-old Allendale man was arrested for driving while intoxicated. On May 4 at 6:54 p.m., Patrolman Vasili Pieratos was advised of a possible drunk driver on Main Street. He located the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Island Park Avenue. At the conclusion of field sobriety tests, a 32-year-old Mahwah man was arrested for DWI. On May 5 at 10:40 p.m., Patrolman Matt Rork responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 17 South. During the crash investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. A Waldwick man, 50, was arrested for DWI.
