Golf outing planned Immaculate Conception Church will host a Golf Outing at Darlington Golf Course, 270 Campgaw Road, Mahwah on Monday, June 28. The event will begin with registration, lunch at noon, and a 2 p.m. tee off. The cost for the day is $125 per person and includes a round of golf (scramble format) with golf carts, refreshments, goodie bag, prizes, and buffet dinner in the gym of Immaculate Conception Church, 900 Darlington Avenue. Annual Fishing Contest set The Township of Mahwah will sponsor its 21st Annual Fishing Contest on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to noon at Silver Creek. Health care presentation scheduled Richard Hogarth, president of Group Stategies, LLC, will speak at the next meeting of the Business Connection on Tuesday, May 18 at the Sheraton on Route 17 in Mahwah at 7:30 a.m. Hogarth, who has 31 years of insurance experience, will speak about the new health plan. The Business Connection, a business networking group, meets every other Tuesday for the sole purpose of networking, business tips, and referrals. Guests are invited to attend the first meeting at no cost. Only one representative from each business category is allowed membership in the group. Summer, fall programs offered Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Nursery School is offering a Summer Camp and a new Kindergarten Enrichment class that will begin in September. Summer Camp will run in weekly sessions from June 28 through Aug. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The “Lunch Bunch” program will extend the day until 2 p.m. Spanish Summer Camp will run the weeks of July 26 and Aug. 2 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Kindergarten Enrichment will be open to all kindergarteners who attend public school morning sessions. This program will be available two to five days per week from noon to 3 p.m. while school is in session. Busing from Lenape Meadows School has been arranged. Scout Centennial celebrated The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Northern New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America along with Ameriprise Financial, Inc. will host a Business Card Exchange on May 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Boy Scout Service Center, 25 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland. The Boy Scouts of America is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Refreshments will be provided. The cost is $15 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members. Advance registration is required. Museum hosts history lecture The Mahwah Museum will hold its May history lecture “Darlington Schoolhouse and the NY/NJ Trail Conference” on Thursday, May 20. Tours of the schoolhouse will begin at 7 p.m. The lecture will begin at
7:30 p.m. and will be held in Marion Hall at Immaculate Conception Church, 900 Darlington Avenue. In 2007, Mahwah and the New YorkNew Jersey Trail Conference became joint owners of the schoolhouse and restoration plans are in the works. Mahwah historian Carol Greene will explore the history and architecture of this 1891 building. There will also be a lecture on the history of the NY/NJ Trail Conference. Founded in 1920, this group partnered with the government and private landowners to create, protect, and maintain a network of 1,700 miles of hiking trails in the metropolitan area. Parking is available in the church parking lot. Admission is $3 per person; free for Mahwah Museum members. Dinner & networking cruise offered The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Commerce and Industry of New Jersey, Meadowlands Regional Chamber, Newark Regional Business Partnership, and North Jersey Regional
Chamber, will host a dinner and networking cruise on “The Spirit of New Jersey” on May 26. The ship will leave Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken at 6 p.m. and return to dock at 7:30 p.m. The event includes a dinner buffet, cash bar, DJ, and dancing. Free parking is included. The event sponsor is Sharp Electronics Corporation. Network while catching spectacular views of the New York and New Jersey coastlines. Seating is limited and will be sold on a first come basis. Boy Scouts host Pancake Breakfast Mahwah Boy Scout Troop 50’s 13th Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held on Memorial Day, Monday May 31, prior to the town parade. The breakfast will take place at Ramapo Reformed Church, 100 Island Road, from 7 to 11 a.m. The cost is $5 for adults; $3 for children ages five through 12.
