Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • May 5, 2010 Ramsey ‘Night of the Living Beauty Pageant’ comes to RHS Beauty pageants, talent shows, and wacky contestants will all part of the chaotic fun as the Ramsey High School Drama Club presents its final production of the school year, “Night of the Living Beauty Pageant.” This comedy, written by Tim Kelly, will be presented May 6, 7, and 8 in the Ramsey High School auditorium. All performances will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 -- $5 for senior citizens -and may be purchased at the door. In the play, hucksters Joe Allen and Steve Bentley, decide to stage a Miss Junior Venus Beauty Pageant in order to attract sponsors and hundreds of high school lovelies who will pay a large entry fee to make Joe and Steve rich. Unfortunately, only seven girls enter, and there are no sponsors. Complicating matters, the theater owner, Mrs. Hoopway, tries to evict them, and Knuckles Skinner, a menacing loan shark, wants to harm them. Steve and Joe spend most of their time either running or hiding in this farce filled with goofy characters, lunatic action, and a slapstick plot that gets funnier and funnier, with the actual pageant as the finale, complete with an outlandish talent show. For the Ramsey production, Chris Ferrante and Kenny Clarke are con men Joe and Steve, with Jackie Scheid as Sheri, their unfortunate assistant. The lovely, yet vapid contestants are being played by Eileen O’Connor, Carissa Lellos, Rae Caliento, Caitlin Crabe, Natalie Puccia, and Alexis Carney. Marielle Debbs is Mrs. Hoopway, Megan Cirillo is the cleaning lady, and Marco Santoro is the confused coffee shop owner Mumbles. Alex Zammitti plays Knuckles the loan shark, and Taylor Poruks is his girlfriend Cuddles. George Heftler and Jonathan Boone are henchmen Fingers and Muscles. With the underworld come the undercover police, including Emily Brewster and Devin Mueller as the detective Gail and the police cadet Sonia. The cable television crew consists of Alex Albanese as Rick, Patrick Forsyth as Dave, and Eric March as the cameraman. Rounding out the cast are Marisa Quin as Lois Del Monaco; Allie Kopack and Jimmy MacWilliams as the foreign performers, Pippi and Chad; Tyler Buysse as Deputy Scott; Nectar Odabashian as Mrs. Georgis Hopkins; and Jeremy Landes as George Vincent. The coffee shop staff members are Alena Woods, Caity McHale, and Jonathan Acampora as Penny Loafer, Rose Bowl, and Buff Shine. Michael Ferrucci completes the cast as Ed, the security guard. The play is directed by Ramsey High School theater teacher Doug Gipple, and student director Grace DiPaolo. For further information, call (201) 785-2300, extension 21500.
