Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor: I am writing to endorse John Spiech for Mahwah Council. John has a long and extraordinary record of service to the Township of Mahwah with notable contributions to our infrastructure, our environmental concerns, and sensible cost controls. My particular experiences with John have been in the context of the Mahwah Public Library Board of Trustees. Originally designated as an alternate to Mayor Martel on the board, John was appointed as a trustee when he decided to “take a break” from the demands of being a councilman. That was a lucky break for the library as the board has benefited substantively from both John’s civic and experience. John has served as vice president of the library board for over four years and has always been generous with his time and wise with his suggestions for the library. While I am assuming that John’s outstanding record will ensure his election to the town council, I am also hoping that we can find a way to keep him on the library board

Dear Editor: I would like to express my support for three council candidates in the Mahwah Township Council election taking place on May 11. I endorse John DaPuzzo, Roy Larson, and Harry Williams based on their years and level of experience, community involvement, and common sense approach to decision making. I have had the opportunity to work with all three candidates on the council and through various community activities. Through these experiences, it became clearly evident that John, Roy, and Harry have the necessary leadership and management skills to effectively represent the residents of Mahwah. All three candidates have been involved in volunteer coaching activities with the youth sports programs and have held volunteer positions on township committees, where they have worked tirelessly representing the best

interests of our town. They have resided in Mahwah for many years and are well respected within our community. We are facing challenging economic pressures today in our country, our state, and in our township. Given the magnitude of these difficulties, it is the moral imperative of our elected officials to focus on keeping taxes low while retaining our services and the high quality of life within Mahwah. John DaPuzzo, Roy Larson, and Harry Williams are three candidates who have the qualifications and the track record to successfully represent your interests and tackle these issues. With their senior level of business expertise and their combined years of involvement with township affairs, they have a real understanding of the opera-
tional issues and the need for strict fiscal responsibility. Mahwah is currently the fifth lowest taxed town in Bergen County and 15 lowest in our state. They were able to maintain this accomplishment with no cuts in service to our residents, while having to address cuts of $1.3 million in state aid. Help keep Mahwah a special place to live by electing these three candidates to continue to be your eyes and ears for you on the council. I invite you to learn more about John, Roy, and Harry by visiting leadershipformahwah.com and ask you to please join me on May 11 and cast your vote for John DaPuzzo, Roy Larson, and Harry Williams. Rob Hermansen Mahwah
