Williams VOTE ROW #3
Before you cast your vote Tuesday May 11th consider what an extraordinarily unique community Mahwah is to call home. Our township has so much to offer, yet we are the 5th lowest taxed town in Bergen County and the 15th lowest in the enre state of over 500 municipalies. Is it any wonder that we are consistently rated in the top 60 best towns to live in New Jersey by NJ Monthly magazine. Our opponents in this elecon have been sending you a different message. While they share our community and its many benefits they would have you believe that the high quality of service available to you has come about by wasteful spending. The same spending that has underwrien the quality of our life here in Mahwah and protected our property values over the years. The same spending that is in fact lower than last year with no reducon in services. While our opponents have spent their me raining sound bites on our residents with unsubstanated claims of lowering taxes and cung spending, we have been diligently reviewing every item in the current budget. This scruny has resulted in generang an addional $200,000 plus beyond the prior year reducon. And we are connuing the process with diligent analysis and an abundance of care. Not empty sound bites devoid of specifics.
Here is where we differ from our opponents:
1. We have reduced Police and DPW staff through arion not wholesale cuts that would result in the loss of jobs and erosion of services. 2. We are completely commied to our superior senior cizens and youth programs. The across the board reducons our opponents speak of would potenally cripple these programs. 3. We believe strongly in the upkeep and repair of Mahwah’s 200 miles of Township owned roads. We support the connuaon of leaf and brush collecon, garbage pick up and recycling. The eliminaon of these items from the Township’s budget would pass the cost to the individual homeowner, at a much greater cost than the savings in taxes. 4. We manage as fiscal conservaves commied to an intelligent balance of financial responsibility and outstanding service. We believe Mahwah is a thriving town with great potenal and we are determined to keep it that way. There are other notable differences between us and two of our opponents. We, collecvely, have over 50 years of voluntary community service across a broad spectrum of different groups and acvies. They have none. They have lived in this township and have chosen not to parcipate in even a few of the many organizaons and groups that serve our community so well. Despite their lack of civic involvement they believe they have earned a seat on our Council. We have and will connue to be acon oriented, creave and resourceful not arm chair crics. We ask that as you cast your vote May 11th consider what you feel you and our community needs for our collecve future. Consider who has and who will connue to lead Mahwah intelligently, thoughully and respecvely. We believe this analysis will lead you to vote for DaPuzzo, Larson and Williams.
