Award-winning actor and playwright Griffin Hennelly will be joining the summer faculty at Petrov Ballet School teaching a class on the fundamentals of acting. Hennelly was born and raised in Bergen County and began studying the art of acting at the age of six. As a high school student, he landed leading and featured roles in 10 plays and musicals, winning two Cappies awards his senior year (best leading actor in a musical, best comedic actor in a play). He has spent the past year studying at the prestigious Stella Adler Studio in Manhattan with some of the best teachers in the nation. But Hennelly hasn’t spent all of his time acting. Part of his appeal as a teacher is that he understands another side of theater: playwrighting. Hennelly has written dozens of plays, including his sold out one-man show and the award-winning parody of “Romeo and Juliet” entitled “Doublets and Hose,” which was produced in Los Angeles by Noah Wyle’s (of “ER” fame) Blank theater

SCHOOLS & CAMPS
About 10 million children will head to summer camp this year. In addition to raingear and swimsuits, more parents than ever before may be packing prescription medications for their kids. Parents must do their homework to understand who is responsible for their child’s medication needs, and who the members of the camp’s health care team are. Learn about the camp medical staff, its on-site medical facilities, and where the closest hospital is. Make the camp administration aware of any conditions your child has and any medications your child is on. Make sure you know who is in charge of your child’s medications, and who is legally allowed to administer them, whether it is nurse, doctor, counselor or camp coordinator. If warranted, purchase a medic alert bracelet or identification for your child. Submit all necessary paperwork regarding your child’s health care, including physical forms, consent forms, standing administration orders and a list of all of your child’s medications, as well as contact numbers for you, your child’s pediatrician and your pharmacist. All medications that are sent to camp for your child should be in the original containers. Make a list of all prescription and over-the-counter medications your child takes. Keep a copy for yourself, give one to your child, and make sure the medical staff and counselors at the camp have copies as well.
