Ramsey March 24, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 7 Flag, certificate commemorate Boy Scouts’ effort Last spring, Troop 31 ran a collection drive to provide toiletries, snacks, and other comforts of home to American troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Four boxes of assorted items weighing a total of 160 pounds were delivered to a Navy SEAL unit stationed in the countryside of Afghanistan. These troops were not at the headquarters base camp where there is more opportunity for shopping and getting a typical “fast food” meal during off hours, so the supplies that we sent were very meaningful. To show their appreciation for the effort Troop 31 went to in support of these men and women, the commander of the United States National Support Element sent the local Boy Scouts an American flag that was flown over the US NSE Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan. The flag was raised over the headquarters on Sept. 11, 2009. The flag and certificate will be placed in the display cabinet at the Ramsey Municipal Building so anyone in the area can come in and see it and think about the sacrifice that American soldiers are making every day in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world. For Easter ! Nick Cicciari (holding certificate), Jarret Floyd (holding flag), and Mayor Christopher Botta.
