Carroll, Freeholder Vice Chairwoman Elizabeth Calabrese, Freeholder Chair Pro Tempore David L. Ganz, Freeholder Bernadette McPherson, and Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney recently gathered for a press conference in support of maintaining the blue laws in Bergen County. The press conference was held to assure Bergen County residents that the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the County Executive are against Governor Christie’s proposal to repeal Bergen County’s existing blue laws, which limit retail shopping on Sundays by placing limits on what can be purchased. County officials believe that eliminating blue laws would have an impact on the quality of life of Bergen County residents by increasing traffic on Sundays, a day that normally gives respite to residents from daily traffic congestion. According to the Bergen County Freeholders, a decrease in the quality of life would further result a negative effect on property values. The Freeholders believe the blue laws are of great benefit to the Bergen County residents, and will continue to work to maintain their existence. The publisher is not responsible for typographical errors, nor the omission of copy in advertisements in the event of error.
