Used uniform collection underway Mahwah Recreation is collecting used sports uniforms for the youth of Haiti. Sports T-shirts and shorts can be brought to the annual Meet the Bunny event on Saturday, March 27 starting at 1 p.m. at Continental Soldiers Field on Ramapo Valley Road. Tennis fundraiser set A tennis fundraiser sponsored by Ryan Wuestohoff will be held on Friday, March 26 at Quest in Mahwah. Wuesthoff is raising money and awareness for the Lewy Body Dementia Association. The event will include a round-robin style tennis tournament followed by dinner, prizes, and a special auction. Fire company hosts fundraiser Join the Mahwah Fire Department Company #4 (Fardale section) March 26 and 27 for lunch or dinner -- dine in or take out -- at Chili’s of Ramsey on Route 17 North. Company #4 will receive 10 percent of each order when diners present a flyer at the time of purchase. Flyers may be obtained from the firefighters of Company #4 and at the firehouse at 52 Fardale Avenue. Meet the Bunny Mahwah’s Annual Meet the Bunny Festival will be held March 27 at 1 p.m. at Continental Soldiers Park. Mahwah families are invited to this afternoon of prizes, face painting, balloon art, and egg dyeing. This event is sponsored by the Mahwah Recreation Committee and will take place rain or shine.
Learn Ukrainian egg decoration The Mahwah Public Library’s Craft Workshop Series will continue March 27 with Ukrainian Egg Decorating. Patty Wiszuk-DeAngelo will present the program at 12:30 p.m. in the Winter Room. Wiszuk-DeAngelo is an award-winning artist. One of her decorated eggs was displayed at the White House and is now part of the White House Museum. She was featured on the Food Network program “Unwrapped.” She has over 20 years of experience as a working artist and teacher. Attendees will learn division of the egg, drawing of designs, use of kistka, techniques of wax and resist method, dyeing process, the technique of drilling the egg, removing wax, and finishing methods. This workshop is open to all adults. Registration is required and there is a $20 nonrefundable supply fee. Space is limited to 20 participants. If too few participants register, the program may be cancelled and supply fees refunded. Registration takes place at the circulation desk. The Mahwah Public Library is located at 100 Ridge Road. Keep mailboxes accessible Snowstorms have blanketed Mahwah several times this winter with accumulations approaching record levels in New Jersey. Mahwah Acting Postmaster Ken Weite asks for the community’s help by keeping sidewalks, pathways, approaches to and egress from mailboxes free of snow and ice so postal carriers can safely effect mail delivery. Keeping mailboxes and surrounding areas clear will prevent injuries and allow the postal service to provide the best possible service. According to the postmaster, mail delivery is made to a total of 17,593 homes, businesses, and post office boxes in Mahwah and Ramsey. Secondhand shop accepting donations A secondhand shop known as Pandora’s Box will open in the Mahwah Senior Center on April 1. The center is now accepting new or gently used women’s clothing in all sizes. Please note: No shoes, hats, or clothing for children or men will be accepted. Decorative items are welcome.
