Don Bosco presents ‘Little Shop of Horrors’
Enjoy the jive-talking, rhythm and blues belting, man-eating plant Audrey II, and the zany staff and patrons of Mr. Mushnik’s skid row flower shop, in Don Bosco Prep’s spring musical production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” The show will be presented March 19, 20, 21, 26, and 27 at De Sales Hall Auditorium at Don Bosco Prep, 496 North Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey. One of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time, this memorable rock and roll musical is based on the 1960 black comedy film directed by Roger Corman, which featured a young Jack Nicholson. The off-Broadway production ran from 1982 through 1987, closing after 2,209 performances. In 1986, the musical was made into a film, directed by Frank Oz, and featuring Rick Moranis as Seymour. Engaging, melodious, and mischievous, “Little Shop of Horrors” will have audiences tapping their toes, as their funny bones gets tickled by this sci-fi spoof. Don Bosco Prep’s production is directed by Jodi Capeless, with choreography by Kimberly Galberaith, production by Lucille Conzo, and musical direction by Ed Ginter. The cast and crew are comprised of students from Don Bosco Prep, Immaculate Heart Academy, and other area Catholic schools. Performances will be at 8 p.m. on Fridays March 19 and 26, and Saturdays, March 20 and 27. Matinees will be performed on Sunday, March 21 at 3 p.m., and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.
