Mahwah families are invited to this afternoon of prizes, face painting, balloon art, and egg dyeing. This event is sponsored by the Mahwah Recreation Committee and will take place rain or shine. Concert to feature ‘Sounds of Ireland’ “Sounds of Ireland,” an Irish Celebration with violinist Maria Millar and flutist Shawn Wyckoff, will be presented in the Winter Room at the Mahwah Public Library on Sunday, March 21 at 2 p.m. Millar has appeared as a soloist throughout Canada, China, Japan, Ireland, and the United States. She has logged 170 performances in the principal role of Solo Dancing Fiddler in “Riverdance” on Broadway, and in the North American and Asian tours of “Riverdance: The Show.” She has also performed in Radio City Music Hall’s One World Jam. She holds accelerated BM/MM from Juilliard. Wyckoff, a solo and chamber musician, has been featured in performances at The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, The Library of Congress, The Guggenheim Museum, and the United Nations. Wyckoff’s orchestral work includes concerts with conductors Pierre Boulez, Leonard Slatkin, Kurt Masur and, most recently, performing as a member of Continuum, One World Symphony, and The Harmonia Opera Company. He is a first prize winner of The Judith Lapple National Flute Competition, the Flute Society of Washington Competition and The Friday Morning Music Club Woodwind Competition. Patty Wiszuk-DeAngelo will present the program at 12:30 p.m. in the Winter Room. Wiszuk-DeAngelo is an award-winning artist. One of her decorated eggs was displayed at the White House and is now part of the White House Museum. She was featured on the Food Network program “Unwrapped.” She has over 20 years of experience as a working artist and teacher. Attendees will learn division of the egg, drawing of designs, use of kistka, techniques of wax and resist method, dyeing process, the technique of drilling the egg, removing wax, and finishing methods. This workshop is open to all adults. Registration is required and there is a $20 nonrefundable supply fee. Space is limited to 20 participants. Temple hosts fundraiser Beth Haverim Shir Shalom, 280 Ramapo Valley Road, will hold its annual theme basket fundraiser at the temple on Sunday, March 21 at 1 p.m. Prize baskets will be brimming with merchandise and gift certificates to restaurants, spas, and other establishments. Winter family featured in exhibit The Mahwah Museum at 201 Franklin Turnpike is hosting an exhibit, “Winters for All Seasons,” now through May 31. The exhibit chronicles the legacy of the Winter family. From the 1790s to 1961, the Winter family influenced the growth of downtown Mahwah. Family members were business people, civic leaders, church elders, and innovators. This diorama created by Carol W. Greene is based on her new book, “The Ramapough Chronicles,” which will soon be available for purchase at the museum.
