Lenten Spaghetti Dinner set A Lenten Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Friday, March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Adorno Fathers’ Center, 575 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey. On the menu will be clam and marinara sauces, salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Music will be provided by the priests and brothers of the Adorno Fathers. Proceeds will benefit the Adorno Fathers Seminary in Ramsey. Seniors plan upcoming events The Ramsey Seniors have planned a five-day trip to Cape Cod from June 7 through 11. Included in the cost of $439 per person, double occupancy, will be tours of Hyannis, Sandwich, Martha’s Vineyard, Chatham, Provincetown, JFK Museum Eastham Windmill, and other locations. A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for the new wheelchair lift van, which has been donated by Inserra Supermarkets, Inc., and will be dedicated in memory of Theresa Inserra, mother of Larry Inserra, Laura DuPont, and Marie Larsen. The brand new van includes 14 passenger seats and one wheelchair space. It will be used for doctor appointments, shopping, and recreational trips. Leisure Club plans winery trip A bus trip to the Renault Winery is scheduled for Thursday, March 25 is sponsored by the Leisure Club. Scout plans Church Family Birthday Party As part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project, Stephanie Van Heest is organizing a Church Family Birthday Party. The party will be held Saturday, March 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey, 15 Shuart
Lane. Attendees are invited to celebrate, no matter when their birthdays fall during the year. Everyone will celebrate with a buddy. This event will include games, crafts, and cupcake decorating, and everyone will make an individual time capsule. Sign up after worship service in Fellowship Hall. A donation of $4 per person or $12 per family will be collected at the signup. Everyone is asked to bring something small to put into the time capsules. Soccer registration open Registration for the Ramsey Soccer Association’s fall recreation soccer season, including the Kinderkickers and Challenger programs, has begun. Bereavement retreat set On Saturday, March 27, Father Francis Gunn, OFM will lead a half-day bereavement retreat for those grieving the loss of a loved one. The group will meet from 9 a.m. to noon in the Saint Paul Interparochial School Multipurpose Room at 187 Wyckoff Avenue. Fr. Francis, a clinical social worker experienced in bereavement and trauma counseling, has served as a pastor, campus minister, and hospice chaplain. He will seek to foster a deeper peace in the hearts and spirits of the attendees through prayer, reflection, and an exploration of the spiritual issues that often surface in bereavement. Organic gardening explored Mark Borst, president and founder of Borst Landscape and Design of Allendale, will offer tips about organic lawn and garden care at the Ramsey Area Garden Club meeting on Tuesday, March 9. The session will be held at 6:45 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 55 Wyckoff Avenue. The presentation will cover the central concepts of organics, and how soil health affects plant life. Borst is a graduate of Rutgers with a degree in landscape architecture. He has 20 years of experience as a landscape professional. Don Bosco hosts annual fundraiser Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey will be hosting its annual Moment of Magic Auction on Friday, March 26 at The Rockleigh Country Club in Rockleigh. In addition to the auctions, there will be a special fundraiser. The first place winner will receive 35 percent of the cash pot, the second place winner will receive 10 percent, and the third place winner will receive five percent. Tickets are now on sale. Tickets may be purchased individually for $50, or a book of five for $200. The winners need not be present at the event.
