B Luba Lander of North East Laser Vein Institute: Personalized, expert skin care hile living in Russia, aesthetician Luba Lander began working in the skin care industry. When she came to the U.S., she acquired her degree as a certified, licensed aesthetician at Capri Institute in Paramus. After working as a skin specialist and makeup artist for major department stores, she felt there was neither enough emphasis on personal contact nor freedom to sell the products in which she believed. The more Luba became educated about products, the more she wanted the freedom to suggest the best products for each individual. Luba currently works with clients at North East Laser Vein Institute, offering relaxing and regenerative facials, microLuba Lander dermabrasion, and chemical peels. “Skin of any age or condition can greatly benefit from these treatments. Microdermabrasion can help teens control acne, and can help many other conditions of the skin,” Luba says. “I have state-of-the-art equipment and use all-natural ingredients. For instance, I only use sodium bicarbonate with my microdermabrasion equipment, whereas other spas use aluminum oxide crystals that can be extremely irritating. Other services I provide are body waxing (including Brazilian bikini), and eyelash and eyebrow tinting and design. I am also a licensed laser technician in NY.” She adds, “We carry many high quality products for the skin, but I am especially proud to offer advanced Cosmoceutical products. These contain medical grade ingredients and are carefully prescribed. We also offer a wide variety of natural, organic products.” Dr. Ned Majid, a board-certified physician, expertly treats disorders of the veins, including varicose and spider veins with state-of-the art laser techniques. Botox, Juvederm, and laser hair removal are also available. Located in Ridgewood, North East Laser Vein Institute is open Monday through Saturday by appointment only. They created the menu based on favorite dishes from the Halwagy family’s recipes. “I wanted to bring healthy, great-tasting Lebanese food to the American public,” George says. “It is important to order fresh ingredients, and we have built relationships with local butchers, vegetable sellers, and companies that import traditional spices directly from Lebanon.” This family-friendly restaurant Tabboule Fine Lebanese Cuisine quickly began to grow, building a very loyal customer base. “Being the first Lebanese restaurant in the area was important to Tabboule, since it set the tone and tastes in the consumers’ minds,” George adds. Since Tabboule Restaurant opened, the family and the establishment have been part of the community. This spot is a perfect casual dining experience for the whole family. The restaurant often donates food to the high school, the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce, and village events. Tabboule Restaurant has also sponsored teams and hosted networking events. “It is very important to give back to the community,” George asserts. Last year, Tabboule Restaurant gave way to the creation of Tabboule Grill, which features healthy, fresh, Mediterranean fare. “Even in a declining economy, Tabboule found an opportunity to make our mark in the fast food industry, which was no small feat,” George continued. “Tabboule Grill was able to get the attention of multi-national company that gave the budding business a chance.” “I hope 2010 will bring even more success and new opportunities,” he adds. Visit Tabboule for lunch or dinner at 90 North Maple Avenue (Kings Shopping Center), in Ridgewood.
