Register for football and cheerleading The Ramsey Junior Football Association’s football and cheerleading registration is now open. Gallman to perform at Farmer’s Market The Ramsey Fine Arts Council will bring Sara Gallman, performing on the hammer dulcimer, to the Farmer’s Market, Main Street Train Station on Sunday, June 27. The hammer dulcimer is a stringed instrument with the strings stretched over a trapezoid shaped sounding board. It has a magical sound that is created when wooden hammers tap the strings. Gallman and her husband Matthew are cofounders of Music at the Mission in West Milford. Stop by the Ramsey Fine Arts Council’s booth at the market for more information. June’s Open Mic cancelled The Ramsey Fine Arts Council has cancelled this month’s Open Mic event, which was scheduled for June 26 at Borders in Ramsey. Open Mic will resume July 24. NJSCPA names Gutwetter president Ramsey resident Michael W. Gutwetter has been elected president of the Bergen Chapter of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Gutwetter joined the New Jersey Society of CPAs in 1986. In the Bergen Chapter, he has served as vice president, secretary, and director. He has also served as a member of the NJSCPA Accounting Educators and Students Committee. He is the administrator of the Ramsey Youth Lacrosse, a coach for the Ramsey Baseball Association, treasurer for the Saddle Brook Chamber of Commerce, and was a coach for Ramsey Junior Football.
Gutwetter earned a B.S. in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He and his wife, Roslyn, have a daughter and three sons. Foundation sets Golf Outing The Kenneth BK Kaprowski Scholarship Memorial Foundation presentation dinner and annual Golf Outing will be held June 28 at Ramsey Golf and Country Club, Lakeside Drive, Ramsey. Kaprowski, a 1995 graduate of Don Bosco Preparatory High School, was a sophomore at Villanova University and a member of Saint Paul Parish in Ramsey, when he was killed during a summer storm in 1997. Each year, the foundation established in his name awards a scholarship to a boy who wishes to attend Don Bosco Prep and exhibits the qualities set forth by the Selection Committee. The outing will begin at 11 a.m. with a memorial Mass followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m., shotgun tee-off at 12:30 p.m. with the scholarship presentation and dinner at 6 p.m. The cost is $175 per person for lunch, golf, and dinner; $75 for the dinner and awards presentation only. Leisure Club to view Paterson Falls The Leisure Club is planning a bus trip to the Paterson Falls followed by lunch at Portabella’s Restaurant in Oakland and shopping at Corrado’s Italian Market in Wayne on Wednesday, June 23. Register to read Registration for the Ramsey Public Library’s summer reading program, “Make a Splash: Read,” has begun at
the library’s temporary location at 171 Lake Street. The program is for toddlers through fifth graders and features shows, craft times, and book clubs. Teens in grades six and up can “Make Waves” this summer by reading for prizes, attending “Teen Tuesdays,” and joining a book club. Adults are invited to participate in “Water Your Mind” and read for opportunities to win prizes. These summer clubs are for Ramsey residents and students enrolled in Ramsey public schools.
