In so doing, perhaps more of the troubled youngsters in our area will have happier, better adjusted and more fruitful lives ahead.” In 1996, the Center for Children and Youth created a permanent home for itself at One Cherry Lane, Ramsey. Independence Bank provided financing for the purchase of the building and made an initial contribution to support the new facility. Frank P. Kraus, the former mayor of Mahwah, was also instrumental in arranging the funding for this important project, and Wells Associates provided architectural services in planning the renovation of the building, which was the former office of Attorney Walter Weber. In the fall of 1997, over 250 friends and supporters attended the opening of the new West Bergen Center for Children and Youth. Elected officials and other dignitaries welcomed West Bergen to Ramsey, and Master of Ceremonies Kevin J. Boswell announced the launch of a Capital Campaign drive for the new building. Boswell served as chairman of that campaign, which eventually raised more than $900,000. In 1998, the Center for Children and Youth in Ramsey was named in honor of the agency’s long-time friend and benefactor, Ridgewood philanthropist David F. Bolger, West Bergen’s Guardian Angel, in recognition of his generosity and commitment to West Bergen. Cutting the ribbon at the Open House were (front) Philip E.
