Ramsey June 9, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 11 The Ramsey Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office have announced the arrest of a Jersey City man on the charge of promoting prostitution. The man was arrested at his residence without incident during the execution of a court authorized search warrant. The arrest came about as a result of an investigation Jersey City man arrested for promoting prostitution conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Task Force under the direction of Chief Steven Cucciniello, and the Ramsey Police Department, under the direction Chief Bryan Gurney. Earlier in the year, Chief Gurney received anonymous letters reporting prostitution within the jurisdiction of Ramsey. The arrest stemmed from an investigation in which the suspect was operating a large scale prostitution organization throughout the Bergen (specifically Ramsey) and Rockland County areas. Utilizing Internet advertisements and area hotels, Smith would arrange for encounters where persons would either engage in or facilitate prostitution. The Ramsey Police Department thanks the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ramapo Police Department, the Jersey City Police Department, and the United States Postal Inspection Service for assisting with this operation.
