Group to discuss Strout novel The Connections Book Group at First Presbyterian Church, 15 Shuart Lane, Ramsey, will discuss “Olive Kitteridge” by Elizabeth Strout on Wednesday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. “Olive Kitteridge” is a collection of stories offering insights into the human condition. Leisure Club to view Paterson Falls The Leisure Club is planning a bus trip to the Paterson Falls followed by lunch at Portabella’s Restaurant in Oakland and shopping at Corrado’s Italian Market in Wayne on Wednesday, June 23. The bus will leave from the Lutheran Redeemer Church at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $26 per person. For reservations, contact Connie at (201) 327-4170. Senior bus phone number update The extension on the phone number for senior bus transportation has changed: The new number is (201) 825-3400, extension 277. The bus is available to transport seniors to medical appointments or shopping venues for a $3 fee. The van is equipped with a wheelchair lift and holds 14. Teens available for employment YES, the Youth Employment Service, has Ramsey High School teens who will babysit or pet sit, and can handle computer and office work, and a host of other responsibilities. Seniors host varied events The Ramsey Seniors’ Crafty Sisters group will continue to meet on Mondays at 1:30 p.m. during the summer. Members would appreciate donations of yarn, preferably new.
Donations may be brought to the senior center in Finch Park. The group knits and crochets items that are donated to churches, Bergen County YMHA, hospitals, and veterans. All women are invited to join the group. Bocce is in full swing for the summer. The men meet
every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 a.m. at the Ramsey Pool area. The women’s group meets on Thursdays at 10 a.m. A calendar of events is available the senior center. (continued on page 12)
