Farmers market institutes Pay it Forward The Ramsey Farmers Market is reaching out to others who are less fortunate with its Pay it Forward program. Visitors to the market bring non-perishable items each Sunday, and market vendors are donating fresh vegetables and fruits, breads, and freshly ground coffee to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. The Ramsey Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Street train station through Oct. 31, rain or shine. Teens available for employment YES, the Youth Employment Service, now has Ramsey High School teens who will babysit or pet sit, and can handle computer and office work, and a host of other responsibilities. Register for football and cheerleading The Ramsey Junior Football Association’s football and cheerleading registration is now open. ESL, Cozy Circle Times break for summer ESL conversation classes and the Cozy Circle Times have been suspended for the summer months. Both programs will resume in the fall. The bus is available to transport seniors to medical appointments or shopping venues for a $3 fee. The van is equipped with a wheelchair lift and holds 14 persons. Rotary seeks new members New members are always welcome at the Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club’s weekly meetings on Mondays at 12:15 p.m. Meetings are held at Houlihan’s in Ramsey. The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International and sponsors activities that benefit both the local community and international public service projects, including a school, clinic, and orphanage in Haiti. The club provides extensive support locally for the Center for Food Action and Habitat for Humanity, and scholarships for local students. Members also participate in Ramsey Day, Upper Saddle River Day, and Mahwah Day, with all proceeds going toward the club’s activities. Fieldstone Fine Art has expanded its offerings of fine art to include art to wear jewelry and pottery with an exhibit of artist Sandra Golberts’ bracelets, necklaces and chokers and Susan Bogen’s pottery. Golbert distinguished herself in the 1950s when her costume and clothing designs appeared in Vogue Magazine. In her 30-year career as an artist, she has received many merit grants in recognition of her unique talent. In 2000, Golbert’s totally beaded cow, ‘La Mooochachka,’ was juried into ‘CowParade NY’ and was sold for charity. Bogen started working in clay 38 years ago. The beauty of Asian and Islamic pottery inspires and influences her work. The gallery is located at 147 East Main Street in Ramsey and is open to the public, Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. FORL welcomes new members The Friends of Ramsey Library organization meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. New members are welcome.
