OnStage presents ‘Once upon a Mattress’ OnStage’s production of “Once upon a Mattress” will be presented at Ramsey High School at 8 p.m. Aug. 12 through 14. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. “Once Upon a Mattress” is by turns hilarious and raucous, and romantic and melodic. This production, a rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance, provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Ramsey High School is located at 266 East Main Street in Ramsey. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, visit the website at www.onstagenj.org or call Sheila Oprysko (201) 651-9367 or Lucy Trotter (201) 337-2294. ‘Ready, Set, Kindergarten’ offered The West Bergen Center for Children and Youth will sponsor a three-day workshop, “Ready, Set, Kindergarten,” Aug. 23 through 25 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Children’s Center offices at 1 Cherry Lane, Ramsey. Designed to promote social and emotional competencies in preschoolers, the program is intended to better prepare children to enter kindergarten in the fall. During the workshop, children will begin to develop the ability to listen to stories without interrupting, pay atten-
tion for short periods of time to adult-directed tasks, begin to share with others, participate in group activities, begin to follow rules, begin to communicate feelings in words, participate in other people’s games, and other social skills. The fee for the three-day workshop is $150. For more information about the workshop or to register a child, contact Amy Barr at (201) 934-1160 extension 7212 or Alan Koenig at extension 7243. Since its founding in 1990, more than 7,000 children and their parents have been served. The Children’s Center is a division of West Bergen Mental Healthcare.
