Toastmasters schedule meeting The Park Toastmasters will meet Friday, July 23 at 7:15 p.m. at Panera Bread Restaurant, 1300 State Route 17 North, Ramsey. Park Toastmasters is a local chapter of Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization made up of some 8,800 Toastmasters Clubs and 175,00 members who reside in the United States, Canada, and 69 other nations around the world. Toastmasters International is dedicated to helping its membership develop their public speaking and leadership skills. Members of Toastmasters International learn to become better speakers and leaders in a supportive environment that fosters personal growth and achievement. Opera company holds auditions The Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company will hold auditions for its October production of “Patience.” Auditions for principal roles and chorus will be held at the Community Church of Glen Rock (one block east of Maple Avenue on Rock Road), second floor, Room 205, Glen Rock, on Aug. 5 and 9 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Those who audition should arrive during the first hour and must be prepared to sing a song from the show or a piece that best shows their vocal quality. OnStage presents ‘Once Upon a Mattress’ OnStage’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress” will be presented at Ramsey High School at 8 p.m. Aug. 12 through 14. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. “Once Upon a Mattress” is by turns hilarious and raucous, and romantic and melodic. This production, a rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance, provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Salt Water Anglers meet Captain Sal Cursi from Cathy Sea Charters will address the Salt Water Anglers of Bergen County at 8 p.m. on July 20. Captain Cursi will discuss the best techniques for catching stripers and fluke and will offer a presentation on casting nets for bait fish. Blauvelt descendants plan reunion The Association of Blauvelt Descendants will hold its 85th Annual Meeting and Reunion at the FDR Presidential Library in Hyde Park, New York on Sept. 25. The reunion speaker will be food historian Peter Rose, who will discuss the dishes and traditions of the Colonial Dutch. The twoday reunion will include tours of the FDR National Historic Site, the Vanderbilt Mansion, and a stroll on the 1.2-mile walkway over the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie. All descendants of Gerrit Hendrickszen are eligible for membership, upon proof of lineage. The organization has more than 700 members. For further information contact George A.
