Teen Tuesdays begin at 5 p.m. at the Ramsey Rescue Building, 41 South Island Road. This program will continue through July 27. Drop-ins are welcome. Teens are rewarded for reading through out the summer when they join the “Make Waves” reading club. Two book clubs available to teens are Talk it Up! for grades six through eight and Speak Out! for grades nine through 12. Participants may sign up for Make Waves and the book clubs at the Ramsey Library’s temporary location on Lake Street. Children who will be entering kindergarten through second grade this fall are invited to read with a Book Buddy anytime between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Local high school students will read for at least 20 minutes with each child. “Snuggle Time Stories,” also read by a high school student, will meet on Thursday, July 22 at 7 p.m.. No signup is required for either program, both of which will be held at the library’s temporary location at 171 Lake Street. The library’s summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. All programs are for Ramsey Library cardholders only. Farmers market institutes Pay it Forward The Ramsey Farmers Market is reaching out to others who are less fortunate with its Pay it Forward program. Visitors to the market bring non-perishable items each Sunday, and market vendors are donating fresh vegetables and fruits, breads, and freshly ground coffee to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. The Ramsey Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Street train station through Oct. 31, rain or shine. Township seniors set events Seniors may participate in a two-hour pontoon cruise on the Hackensack River on Thursday, July 22. The van will leave Finch Park at 5 p.m. for the 6 p.m. history tour sunset cruise and return at approximately 9 p.m. The Hackensack Riverkeeper will travel the same route traveled by the coastal schooners that used to carry cargo to and from Bergen County. Sign up at borough hall. The cost is $35 per person. Attendees may bring a picnic dinner or snack to eat aboard the boat. Upcoming fall events include a bus trip to New York City to see the Broadway show “Billy Elliott” on Sept.8, the annual Ramsey Day on Sept. 11, and the Senior Pool Party and Barbecue on Sept. 15. Most senior activities will continue during the summer months. yoga and tai chi will return in September. There will be no bingo in August. Bocce for men is available at the Ramsey Pool area every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 a.m. Women meet for bocce on Thursday at 10 a.m. Register to read Registration for the Ramsey Public Library’s summer reading program, “Make a Splash: Read,” has begun at the library’s temporary location at 171 Lake Street. The program is for toddlers through fifth graders and features shows, craft times, and book clubs. Adults are invited to participate in “Water Your Mind” and read for opportunities to win prizes. These summer clubs are for Ramsey residents and students enrolled in Ramsey public schools.
