Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • July 21, 2010 Ramsey Review ‘Ready, Set, Kindergarten’ offered The West Bergen Center for Children and Youth will sponsor a three-day workshop, “Ready, Set, Kindergarten,” Aug. 23 through 25 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Children’s Center offices at 1 Cherry Lane, Ramsey. Designed to promote social and emotional competencies in preschoolers, the program is intended to better prepare children to enter kindergarten in the fall. During the workshop, children will begin to develop the ability to listen to stories without interrupting, pay attention for short periods of time to adult-directed tasks, begin to share with others, participate in group activities, begin to follow rules, begin to communicate feelings in words, participate in other people’s games, and other social skills. The Center for Children and Youth provides counseling and psychiatric services for youngsters, ages two through 18 years. Since its founding in 1990, more than 7,000 children and their parents have been served. The Children’s Center is a division of West Bergen Mental Healthcare. Leisure Club plans Pocono trip The Ramsey Senior Leisure Club will travel to Mount Airy Casino in the Pocono Mountains on Wednesday, July 28. The cost is $22 per person. The casino comp. will be $30 in casino money and a $5 food voucher. The bus will depart from the Lutheran Church at 9 a.m. The group will leave Mount Airy at 4 p.m. and stop at Hot Dog Johnny’s. For reservations, call Connie at (201) 327-4170. Children’s programs announced “Awesome Adventures: God’s People on the Move,” a Sunday morning program for children, will be held through Aug. 29. Children presently in the Nursery Class up to and including those entering fifth grade in the fall may register. The Men’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Deborah S. King, recently provided special music during the Worship Service at the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsy. Anthems included ‘Live-A-Humble,’ a spiritual arranged by Peter Bagley.
