Renewing interest in life’s joys To ease the pain of spinal stenosis, sciatica, and lumbar issues, Richard Kuiken received an epidural at a local hospital. He then selected The David F. Bolger Post-acute Care Unit (PACU) at Christian Health Care Center for his physical and occupational therapy. BVMI Director (continued from page 4) and commitment to social responsibility, she is looking forward to moving BVMI to the next level of increased visibility and philanthropic support which will enable BVMI to serve the almost 20,000 Bergen County residents who meet eligibility criteria. BVMI is totally dependent on contributed income from individuals, business, and foundation grants. “The opportunity to work with those who had the vision and have made the BVMI Healthcare Center a reality is a special honor,” said Gindes. “In a very short period of time, I have witnessed the ‘culture of caring’ expressed by BVMI’s healthcare professionals and volunteers, and the deep gratitude of those patients who are served. I look forward to reaching BVMI’s potential to improve the health status of our neighbors in need and to provide increased access to healthcare to the most vulnerable. It is very exciting and gratifying to be working in partnership with board members, volunteers, and staff at this important time in the organization’s development.” The BVMI Healthcare Center is located at 241 Moore Street, Hackensack. For information or to make an appointment to assess eligibility, phone (201) 342-2478. “I was in the PACU for about five weeks. The therapy was good, and the nursing staff was wonderful. My wife volunteers at Christian Health Care Center, and we know a lot of people who work there. Overall, I was impressed and pleased with the whole facility. It was good and clean and that is important to me. The dietitian was excellent. At the time I wasn’t eating very well. She evaluated me like I was her son. With the PACU’s therapy, I’m back to spending time as an amateur radio operator… I love speaking to people in foreign countries!” – Richard Kuiken Regain your lifestyle at the PACU.
