Ramapo College of New Jersey is listed in the February 2010 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine as among the “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” for 2009. This is the fifth consecutive year Ramapo has been included in this category, and has advanced in ranking from #66 to #49 in the nation. The Mahwah-based college is one of three New Jersey public institutions of higher education included on the list. “This year’s recognition by Kiplinger’s reaffirms our commitment to providing a high-quality, accessible education,” said Enrollment Manager Christopher Romano. “At a time when public entities are asked to do more with less, Ramapo continues to strategically invest in the essentials of a liberal arts education, (and) stellar faculty who ensure Ramapo graduates are critical thinkers and lifelong learners.” The #49 ranking is for in-state tuition and fees at Ramapo College; the college received a ranking of #20 for value in out-of-state tuition. Kiplinger’s studied more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities, using measures including the percentage of freshmen scoring 600 or higher on the verbal and math components of the SAT, student/ faculty ratio, admission rates, and graduation rates. Schools were also ranked based on cost before and after financial aid, the average cost for a student with need after subtracting grants, the average cost for a student without need after subtracting non-need based grants, the average percentage of need met by aid, and the average debt a student accumulates before graduation.
