Rotolo has emerged as the top candidate for the borough’s municipal judge. Ramsey Mayor Christopher Botta appointed Rotolo last week and is now seeking the governing body’s ofﬁcial conﬁrmation. The council is expected to decide on the nominee at its Jan. 27 public meeting. Mayor Botta pointed to Rotolo’s extensive municipal law background. Rotolo is currently the municipal judge in Palisades Park, and serves as city attorney in Garﬁeld, township attorney in Rochelle Park, zoning board attorney in Hasbrouck Heights, and tax appeal counsel in South Hackensack. He is also a member of the Bergen County Ethics Board, which he joined in 2007. If conﬁrmed for the post in Ramsey, Rotolo would reportedly make Ramsey a priority. “The combination of Rotolo’s experience in law and as a sitting judge and his knowledge of Ramsey elevated him to the top of the list,” Botta told Villadom TIMES last week. Rotolo received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Villanova University and a juris doctorate (cum laude) from Seton Hall University School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in New Jersey in 1980 and in New York in 1990. He was admitted to the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia in 1995 and to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1997. The judge has practiced municipal law for over 25 years and has served as a special counsel in various municipalities in the counties of Bergen, Essex, and Sussex. He served as co-chairman of the Bergen County Bar Association Municipal Law Committee in 1995, 1996, 2003, and 2006. He has appeared before planning and zoning boards and has criminal and civil trial experience at every level. During his career, Rotolo has also been a public defender in Palisades Park, Fort Lee, Saddle Brook, and Little Ferry; attorney for the Palisades Park Board of Education; Assistant Bergen County Counsel; and attorney for the Bergen County Parks Commission. �� Man arrested on child pornography charges A 66-year-old Ramsey resident has been arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a minor by distributing child pornography and by possession of child pornography. Barry J. Riff was arrested without incident on Jan. 8. The arrest came about as a result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Ofﬁce Computer Crimes Task Force, under the direction of Chief Steven Cucciniello. The arrest stemmed from an Internet investigation in which Riff was using the Internet to acquire and distribute child pornography. In this case, the child pornography contained images and/or videos. Printed images of child pornography were also discovered at the time of Riff’s arrest. Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli stated that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
