The new Tai Chi class is so popular that a second session has been added. Session one is held on Thursday at 1 p.m. The second class will be at 2:15 p.m. The classes will run for eight weeks. New participants may register by calling Doug Renee at (201) 327-1201 or Joann Bockhorn at (201) 3273089. Living Better through Yoga has begun on Friday at 9:50 a.m. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat. The annex next door has a pool table. Bring a pal on Monday at 1 p.m. and make use of the facility. Ping -pong is also available; players are looking for new people to join them on Friday at 1 p.m. The knitting and crochet group was recently visited by a TV crew attempting to show their camaraderie and accomplishments. Any Ramsey resident over the age of 60 who is interested in actively helping at the center is invited to attend the meetings held on the third Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. Positions will be available for new committee officers during the spring. Harlem Wizards to challenge DARE 6 Ramsey DARE will host the Harlem Wizards vs. DARE 6 on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. at Don Bosco High School. The Harlem Wizards team features some of the top basketball talent in the world performing “Trick Hoopz and Alley Oops.” After five decades, this group is still packing gymnasiums across the globe with fans eager to laugh and be amazed. Tickets are available at these Ramsey merchants: King Pizza North, Arlo Cleaners, Foot Solutions, and The Smart Phone Center. Pre-purchased ticket prices are $5 for children up to 15 years and $10 for adults. Tickets purchased at the door will be an additional $2 each. Kindergarten registration set Kindergarten registration for Ramsey children who will be five on or before Oct. 1, 2010 will be held at the Wesley D. Tisdale School and Mary A. Hubbard School on Jan. 19 between 9 and 11 a.m. Registration packets should be picked up in the child’s assigned elementary school office beforehand. On registration day, parents should bring the packets with them. Parents should include a recent photograph of the child with the registration materials. Appointments for kindergarten screening, to be held in February, will be made at time of registration. On Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m., parents of kindergarteners are invited to learn about Ramsey’s kindergarten program and the screening process. The meeting will be held at Tisdale School. Snow date: Thursday, Jan. 28. Sinatra tribute planned The Ramsey Knights of Columbus will host a Valentine’s Day Tribute to Frank Sinatra on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 7 p.m. to midnight, at the Council Hall, 48 Mechanic Street. Jason Nazzaro will entertain singing all of “Old Blue Eyes”’ favorite songs. A full Italian buffet will be served. Tables of 10 may now be reserved. Bialkin joined the Ramsey school district in 1988 and has been at the high school since 1999. There, he oversees a variety of musical enterprises. Asked what the high school musicians would do for an encore, Bialkin said the district has a very busy program. “The Jazz Ensemble competes all winter, and we have Winterguard and drum line, and a Winter Percussion Camp,” he explained. One thing is certain: Bialkin will keep his musicians going places.
