Ramsey January 13, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 7 Borough reorganizes; Siemsen is council president Andrew Siemsen was named president of the Ramsey Borough Council at last week’s reorganization session. Siemsen, who grew up in Ramsey, is a graduate of Ramsey High School. He later graduated from the University of Tennessee and from Rutgers University, where he received a master’s degree in city and regional planning. The new council president has been a consultant to the Ramsey Planning Board and a member of the borough’s Environmental Commission and the Business Development Council. He is a corporate relocations specialist. He and his wife, Michele, are the parents of two young children. Voters elected Siemsen to his first term on the council in 2005, and he handily won reelection to his seat in 2008. During the reorganization, Ramsey Mayor Christopher Botta appointed the 2010 members of the Local Emergency Planning Committee. The state of New Jersey requires that every municipality appoint an LEPC, to consist of at least 12 individuals and to be comprised of representatives from the following five categories: elected officials; public safety, public health, and public works officials; broadcast and print media officials; community groups, such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army; and representatives of public utilities. Ramsey currently has 25 highly qualified leaders who are willing to give their time and talent in the event of a serious emergency. Because of the time constraints of these busy individuals, the entire group only meets to plan for an anticipated largescale emergency. Michael Adams was appointed emergency management coordinator and chairman of the LEPC for his 36th term. Glen Karpovich, Bruce Greenwood, and Ramsey Police Sergeant Angelo LaManna were appointed as deputy emergency management coordinators. Karpovich is the right-to-know officer, Greenwood is the emergency operations center officer, and LaManna is public safety officer. Mayor Botta is chief executive and Councilman William Jones will serve his third term as chairman of the Public Safety Committee. Councilwoman Deirdre Dillon and Councilman Art Nalbandian will also serve on the committee. Other emergency management officials include Lou Janicek, radio officer; Wayne Lemme, radiological officer; and Michael Greenshields, shelter management officer. Appointees also include James Keeney, OEM government liaison; and Claudia Monteith, OEM bioterrorism consultant.
