The 67-minute “Paradise Faded: The Fight for Louisiana” tells the story of America’s largest, ongoing environmental disaster -- the loss since 1932 of 2,400 square miles of wetlands in the Mississippi Delta. Not only has this made New Orleans and southern Louisiana dangerously vulnerable to hurricanes, but it also jeopardizes the future of the region’s fishing, seafood, oil, gas, and port industries, which contribute significantly to the US economy. Written and directed in 2007 by Jared Arsement, the film explores the causes and impacts of this multifaceted problem and the critical need to restore these Gulf of Mexico wetlands.
