Four council incumbents to seek reelection

McMahon Four incumbent members of the Mahwah Township Council have indicated they will seek reelection to the council in the May 11 non-partisan municipal election, and one other resident has already submitted his nominating petition. The incumbents are John DaPuzzo, the current council president; Allan Kidd, who is completing his first term; Roy B. Larson, who is also completing his first term; and Harry Williams, who was recently appointed to the council to replace former Councilman Robert Hermansen who is now a member of the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The resident who has submitted his nominating petition is Daniel J Weixeldorfer. He is a Realtor. DaPuzzo is a graduate of Paramus High School and attended Fairleigh Dickenson University School of Engineering. He is a graduate of the Teterboro School of Aeronautics and of the Fairfield School of Business. From 1985 to 2005 he was the owner of McPeek’s Tire and Service in Ramsey. From 1997 to the present time he has been a managing partner of North Bergen Holdings in Mahwah. He is also vice president of Squires Insurance Agency in the township, and the chief operating officer of The Fountain Spas in Ramsey and Hackensack. His volunteer service includes being a past president a member of the board of directors of the Bergen Highlands Rotary Club, chairman of Mahwah Day and Ramsey Day events, chairman of World Affairs Seminar, and advisor to the Mahwah and Ramsey High School Interact Clubs. He has been a member of the board of directors of the Ed Syder Scholarship Foundation and West Bergen Mental Health. He was also a member of the Building Committee for the Center for Food Action. He has been a coach in the Mahwah Youth Sports Boosters organization and a Cub Scout troop leader for Pack 258. DaPuzzo has served on the township’s planning board, Intergovernmental Committee, and the Continental Soldiers Park Planning Committee. Upon completing college with a degree in technology, Kidd served as a production manager with a manufacturing company in New York City. He later attained an MBA in finance from the Fordham University Graduate School of Business Administration. While in graduate school, Kidd teamed up with a consortium of central European entrepreneurs and acquired financial backing for international business ventures. Kidd also successfully developed and executed strategic plans to get business ventures up and running. He was awarded an MBA in finance in 1992 and continues to work as an independent consultant for many entrepreneurs. In 1996, Kidd commenced legal studies at Fordham University School of Law, to fulfill a goal of starting a local law firm and practicing law in Mahwah. At the same time, Kidd took a position with Cantor Fitzgerald, a financial
firm on Wall Street, where he worked by day, while studying law at night. Upon completion of law school, Kidd practiced in New York City for several years and then focused his attention on starting a local practice in Mahwah. Kidd is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey. He primarily practices consumer and commercial law and focuses on some niche aspects of telecommunications law. He claims to be the only life-long resident of Mahwah on the township council and his family’s roots span back a few hundred years. Larson has been a resident of the township since 1994 and he has been married for 19 years. His three sons attend the Mahwah schools. He has a BA in political science from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and a JD Degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, Virginia.
