Wright to discuss Hudson’s visit On Feb. 24, Kevin Wright, past president of the Bergen County Historical Society, will discuss and sign his book, “1609: A Country That Was Never Lost - The 400th Anniversary of Henry Hudson’s Visit with North Americans of the Middle Atlantic Coast.” This joint program of The Hermitage and the Ridgewood Public Library will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Ridgewood Public Library Auditorium, 125 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood. Wright’s book takes readers back in time for a visit with the Algonquian and Iroquoian communities, including the Manhattans, the Minisinks of Bachom’s Country, the Lenape of the Schuylkill estuary, the Mahicans, Susquehannocks, Mohawks, and others whose names have been lost in the mists of time. The book also covers the birth of the Dutch colony of New Netherland on the Hudson and Delaware rivers and the dawn of history for Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut. State ceases to offer tax forms in print For many years public libraries and post offices throughout the State of New Jersey have partnered with the Division of Taxation to distribute state tax forms. For the upcoming tax season, however, the New Jersey Division of Taxation will not issue state income tax forms in print format to former distribution points. State tax forms are available on the website of the Division of Taxation: www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/. Taxpayers who are unable to access the forms from home may use the computers in their public libraries, where forms can be printed for a nominal fee. Another option for obtaining paper forms is to call the Division of Taxation Customer Service Hotline at (609) 292-6400 and ask to have the 2009 1040 P mailed directly at no charge. Young professionals plan kickoff meeting The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 2010 kickoff meeting of its Young Professionals Network. Relax and network after work on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the River Palm Terrace, 209 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah. This event is sponsored by ServPro of Northeast Bergen County. The Architects League recently held its annual installation dinner at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. As part of the awards ceremony, Kim V. Vierheilig, AIA, was awarded with the prestigious Vegliante Memorial Award in recognition of her lifetime achievements, accomplishments and distinguished service to the Architects League and the profession. CancerCare provides new support groups CancerCare of New Jersey is offering two adult support groups for those affected by cancer. A bereavement group for those who have lost a partner to cancer within the last year will meet on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. from Feb. 24 through May 12. CancerCare is also planning a support group for adult children who have experienced the loss of a parent to cancer. Dates and times will be announced shortly. Both of these groups will be held at the CancerCare of New Jersey office, 141 Dayton Street, Suite 204, Ridgewood. Call 1-800-813-HOPE (4673) to register or for information. CancerCare is a national non-profit organization that provides free professional support services to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones, and the bereaved. CancerCare programs are provided by trained oncology social workers and are free of charge. Wildcats plan Beefsteak The Bergen County Wildcats will host a Beefsteak Dinner on Saturday, March 27 at 6 p.m. at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 467 Grandview Avenue, Wyckoff. This fundraiser will include beefsteak, salad, fries, soda, coffee, and dessert. Tickets are $40 for adults; $20 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased by

The Bergen County Wildcats are special needs athletes who range in age from eight to adult and compete in a variety of sports. Team members participate in the Special Olympics New Jersey Fall Festival, and the winter and summer games.
