Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • December 22, 2010 Area Public Service Electric & Gas, New Jersey’s largest utility, will upgrade and replace underground electric facilities from the Waldwick switching station to the south Mahwah substation. According to PSE&G, the purpose of this infrastructure upgrade investment is to continue safe, reliable utility service for area residents and business owners. The project’s construction activities along this 5.5 mile circuit will be completed between January and May 2011, with a majority of the work within public road rights-ofway taking place from January to April. During this period, utility service to PSE&G customers will continue as usual. PSE&G expects to be working in the Franklin Turnpike/ Chestnut Street area in Allendale on or about Jan. 10. Work in this area would continue until approximately March 24. The utility plans to be working on Franklin Turnpike (at Wyckoff Lake) to West Airmount Road in the Ramsey and Mahwah area on or about Jan. 20 through approximately April 15. In an effort to expedite this work, PSE&G has scheduled extended work hours Monday through Friday, with some 24-hour and/or weekend work expected during certain aspects of the project. PSE&G stresses that the construction dates and scheduled work hours identified are tentative and subject to minimal variations due to the construction process. No major road closings are expected, but lane closures and/or detours will be necessary during construction. Motorists may want to travel an alternate route until the work is completed. Local police will be on site at all times to oversee new traffic patterns. Interruptions will be kept to a minimum, and PSE&G regrets any inconvenience the project may cause. For everyone’s safety, PSE&G crews use work area protection including local police department traffic manage- PSE&G underground upgrades to affect local traffic ment assistance, traffic cones, barriers, utility work signs, and flaggers, providing measures for a safe project comple- tion. The utility reminds motorists to slow down and be alert when driving past a PSE&G job site. Ramsey Carolers share gift of music L.
