For more information, contact Michael Adams at (201) 832-1733 Giving Tree set up at library The Ramsey Junior Woman’s Club is sponsoring the annual Holiday Giving Tree at the Ramsey Library’s temporary location at 171 Lake Street. All are encouraged to stop by the library lobby to select a gift tag and help to make the holidays a little happier for a fellow Ramsey resident. The tree is decorated with hand- and heart-shaped ornaments made by the Ramsey Juniors, capturing the spirit of the Juniors’ motto: “With hearts and hands we serve.” Gifts should be wrapped, with the tag attached, and returned to the library by Dec. 18. Chancel Singers to perform The 25-voice Chancel Singers of the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey, under the direction of Doctor Deborah S. King, will present “A Service of Advent Lesson and Carols” at 10 a.m. on Dec. 19. The service will feature the “Great O Antiphons” in William Mathis’ “Hymn Concertato” for choir, bells, congregation, and organ, based on the well-known “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” Other music to be featured at the service will include Palestrina’s “Matin Responsory,” Rutter’s “Donkey Carol,” and David Danner’s setting of “Sleeper’s Wake.” The Agape Handbell Choir will ring “Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” All are welcome. Hockey Association hosts Devils fundraiser The Ramsey Hockey Association has a limited number of tickets to the New Jersey Devils vs. Florida Panthers game at Prudential Center on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at 3 p.m. On the program that day will be a special appearance by Ramsey’s Mites on Ice during the first intermission. Book Lover’s Calendar available The Friends of Ramsey Library’s 2011 Book Lover’s Calendar is now available. The calendar, which recommends a book of the day for the entire year, makes a great gift. The calendars are $8 each and may be purchased at the library’s temporary location at 171 Lake Street. All proceeds benefit FORL in support of children’s programs at the Ramsey Library. Bereavement groups forming Hearts & Crafts Counseling of Ramsey invites families and individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one to attend a bereavement support group; a corresponding children’s group will also be offered. Groups will meet once a week in 10-week blocks on weeknights at 7 p.m. For those who are unable to attend all 10 sessions, Hearts & Crafts also offers individual counseling.
