A variety of activities, services, and a hot lunch program are offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children’s theater to be presented The Junior Woman’s Club of Ridgewood will offer a children’s theater event on Sunday, Jan. 16 at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, 335 North Van Dien Avenue in Ridgewood at 1 p.m. Theatreworks USA will present the musical revue “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie & Other Story Books.” Performed by a multi-racial cast, the stories represent various issues, themes, and ideas relevant to a diverse audience of children in kindergarten through fourth grade. All seats are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Proceeds will benefit local charities for women and children. Candlelight service planned Christian Health Care Center will be the local venue for a worldwide candle lighting service on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. to honor children who have died. Attendees are invited to bring a picture of the child and any poems or reading to be read. Father Martin to speak Father James Martin, S.J. will present “The Life of a Christian is Joy” at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1 Passaic Street in Ridgewood, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The program will be held in the parish center. Father Martin, a writer and television news commentator, is the author of the award-winning “My Life with the Saints.” The evening is sponsored by Our Lady of Mount Carmel and G.I.F.T. (Growing in Faith and Theology), a collaborative adult religious education program of 10 neighboring Roman Catholic parishes. A free-will offering will be accepted that evening. Hennelly’s play to be presented Award-winning actor/writer Griffin Hennelly’s new play “Ending It on the N Train” will be performed at the Producer’s Club in New York City on Dec. 11 and 18 at 10:30 p.m. The new play, set over the course of two days, follows actor Duncan Fehey as he decides to end things with his girlfriend on a subway to avoid a scene and provide him with a quick getaway. When the train breaks down, Duncan is stuck with his now ex-girlfriend, his thoughts, and the other characters on the train. Hennelly, an acting teacher at the Petrov School of Ballet in Waldwick and a student at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting, provides a cast made up entirely of students from the Adler Studio. Cast members include Hennelly, Ron Tsur, Georgina Richardson, Yosef Podolsky, and Christina Landrum. The theater is located at 358 West 44th Street. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Employment workshop scheduled Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church’s Career Resources Ministry, in its continuing effort to provide help to people seeking employment, will present the last of a four-part series of fall/winter workshops on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. The workshop will be held in the meeting room in the lower church and is open to anyone seeking employment and those who anticipate possible unemployment. Parish membership is not required. Workshops are presented by the Career Resources Ministry, whose members are dedicated to helping those seeking employment. Professionals in the field will present the workshop and will be on hand to give advice.
