Over 25 area vendors will offer items from fine and costume jewelry to sporting goods, pet items, toys, clothing, accessories for the whole family, candles, stationery, specialty baked goods, chocolates, handbags, and more. Attendees may also bring their gold jewelry for evaluation and receive cash payment from buyers. Northwest Bergen Democrats plan meeting. The Northwest Bergen Democratic Saturday AM Group will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Panera Bread, Route 17 North in Ramsey. The group will discuss last month’s election results and the current political climate in Bergen County. There is no charge to attend, and the public is invited. New members are welcome. Fyke plans Christmas Bird Count Fyke Nature Association will hold its annual Christmas Bird Count on Saturday, Dec. 8. This count is part of the 111th Christmas Bird Count, a continent-wide program organized by the National Audubon Society. Working from dawn to dusk, at least eight teams will cover a 15-mile diameter circle centered on Lake Erskine, counting all the birds they see and hear. The association’s circle includes Ramsey, Mahwah, Allendale, Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, Oakland, Wayne, Pompton Lakes, Bloom- ingdale, Ringwood, West Milford, Greenwood Lake, Tuxedo, Hillburn, Sloatsburg, and Suffern. The entire group will assemble at 5:30 p.m. at the Allendale Municipal Building, 500 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale to review the day’s results. Ramapo to host forum on higher education “The Future of Higher Education in New Jersey” will be the topic of a panel discussion at Ramapo College’s Seventh Annual Legacy Society Dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. in the Trustees Pavilion at Ramapo College, 505 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah. Senators Paul Sarlo (D-Essex, Passaic, Bergen) and Kevin O’Toole (R-Essex, Passaic, Bergen), and Ramapo College President Peter P. Mercer will discuss the upcoming release of the Kean Commission on higher education in New Jersey. In May, Gov.
