Downtown for the Holidays
Downtown for the Holidays celebrates 25th Anniversary
Everyone is invited to Ridgewood for a gala celebration on Friday, Dec. 3 as the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Downtown for the Holidays. The Christmas tree lighting and celebration will be brought back to its original location at the east side of the train station, at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and Broad Kathy/Janine 12-2-09 Street. With much passion and perseverance, Paul RidgewoodDowntownBanner(12-2-09) Vagianos spearheaded a campaign, working with members of the 6x.75” Ridgewood Business District, Chamber of Commerce, Ridgewood Village Council, and residents to bring back the “traditional” location for the 2010 Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration. Chamber members will set up their tables on East Ridgewood Avenue from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Members who wish to participate are invited to call the Chamber office at (201) 445-2600 or e-mail info@ridgewoodchamber.com. The Downtown for the Holidays Entertainment Committee has been working for an entire year to put together another spectacular stage performance. Chamber members Porch Light Productions, From the Top Music Studio, and Art of Motion will present a “traditional” Christmas/holiday theme. This show is designed for the entire family to enjoy. The Dec. 3 celebration will include multiple events. That morning, signs will be put on all parking meters, indicating that there will be no parking after 4 p.m. on East Ridgewood Avenue. The YMCA/YWCA on Oak Street will offer parking for Downtown for the Holidays attendees. At 4:30 p.m., East Ridgewood Avenue will be closed from Broad Street down to Maple Avenue. Street entertainment will begin at 5:30 p.m. Performers will be on the avenue and in the stores. Stage entertainment will be held from 7 to approximately 8:15 p.m. The tree will be lit at 7:30 p.m. At 8:15 p.m., Santa will be in the park, after the stage production. Look for Santa’s elves ringing the bells leading everyone to the Jolly Old Elf. There will be some wonderful surprises, so stay in Ridgewood to catch it all. Make your shopping and dining reservations now. The celebration will continue each Saturday before Christmas. On Saturday, Dec. 4, Santa will arrive in the village, jump on a big red Ridgewood Fire Truck and head up East Ridgewood Avenue to Columbia Bank where children will receive gifts and have their pictures taken with Santa. The Chamber Trolley will be taking everyone through the business district for shopping and dining. From 2 to 4 p.m., Santa will be in his house located at Memorial Park/Van (continued on next page)
