Registration fees are $27 for the 10K, $23 for the 5K, and $40 for both races. Register on or before Sept. 29 to receive a $2 discount or a $5 discount for both races. Walk registration fees are $10 per person (up to $30 per family) for the Family Fun Walk, and $5 per person for the Walk in the Park. There is no charge for children age five and under. The registration fee for the Kid Run is $10. Members of the New Jersey Road Runners Club or USATF-NJ receive $2 discounts. For the 10K and 5K, cash prizes will be awarded for the top three overall finishers, each race male/female, and a bonus for a new race record male/female. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in each race in all age categories and ribbons will be awarded to all participants age 13 and under. All children registered for the Kid Run will receive a T-shirt and participation ribbon, and medals will be awarded to the top three male/female finishers in each race. On Sunday, Oct. 3, the Mahwah Schools Foundation will hold its annual fundraising Run, Walk, and Family Fun Day. The race will begin and end in Darlington County Park. Each year, the turnout includes serious runners from the tri-state area, local families, and educators. Proceeds directly benefit Mahwah’s six public schools through funding of innovative programming, technology, and cultural assemblies. The event features a celebration of running and walking, live entertainment, food, prizes, and activities for the entire family. All are welcome to participate in a day that has something for everyone: a 10K Race, a 5K Run, a 2K Fun Walk, and Family Fun Day/ActiveFest 2010 with free food, rides, games, and track and field fun for all. The activities also include a 1K Walk in the Park, welcoming senior walkers, and “Trails to Wellness,” a health fair geared towards all age levels. The 10K will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K will begin at 10:15 a.m., with the award ceremony to follow the conclusion of both races. Family activities will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the 2K and 1K walks will start at 11:15 a.m. New for this year is Kid Run, a series of competitive races for age groups five through 12.
