The event will be held at 6 p.m. at the Stony Hill Inn, Hackensack. All five Bergen County hospitals and two corporations will be honored for their significant support in making it possible for BVMI to provide BVMI celebrates first anniversary; names honorees free primary and preventive medical care to residents of Bergen County who earn between 100 percent and 200 percent of the prevailing federal poverty guideline and have no health insurance of any kind. The following honorees will receive BVMI’s Community Leadership Award: Bergen Regional Medical Center, Joseph S. Orlando, president and chairman of the board; Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Douglas A. Duchak, president and chief executive officer; Hackensack University Medical Center, Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer; Holy Name Medical Center, Michael Maron, president and chief executive officer; and The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System, Audrey Meyers, president and chief executive officer. The Corporate Spirit of Giving Award will be presented to Becton, Dickinson and Company, Edward J. Since opening in late November 2009, 350 patients have been seen in 850 visits. “The positive outcomes have been impressive, and with the help of those we plan to honor at the “Celebrating the Culture of Caring” event, we have been able to make life-saving interventions and reduce unnecessary health care dollars spent on emergency care,” stated Bernard Weinstein, chairman of the BVMI Board of Trustees.
