Workshops will be held at West Bergen’s Center for Children and Youth, One Cherry Lane, Ramsey, and cost $25 each. Attendees will learn the diagnostic criteria, associated features, differential diagnoses to be considered, co-morbidity issues, and strengths of the population. Asperger’s 101 will be presented Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. by Jeanne Marron, Ph.D. and Janine Standish, LPC. On Thursday, Sept. 16, Jeanne Marron, Ph.D. and Jennifer Kunert, LPC will present Two or Three for One: The Complexity of Co-Morbidity (additional diagnosis) in Asperger’s and Related Disorders. Sometimes the symptoms are significant enough to warrant a formal co-morbid diagnosis which may require equal, if not more, attention in the ongoing treatment process and daily functioning of the individual. This workshop will review the symptoms and criteria for the most commonly experienced co-morbid disorders and examine various treatment options. The workshop will be held between 12:30 and 2 p.m. On Wednesday, Sept. 22, join Jennifer Kunert, LPC and West Bergen offers Asperger’s-related workshops Mighty Mites Katherine Kandravy, LSW as they present “Therapeutic Social Skills for Individuals with Asperger’s and Related Disorders.” This workshop will include information about interpersonal and social development, the nature and complexity of social skills, various techniques and tools, how to target social skills development within the natural environment, and how to implement therapeutic social skills groups for children through adolescents.
