Edward (Eamon) O’Flaherty of Waldwick died on July 29. He was 73. His career extended over 44 years in the food industry. In 1982, he was honored as “Man of the Year” by the B’nai B’rith Youth Services at the New York Hilton, and in 1989 The Catholic Institute of the Food Industry selected him as “Man of the Year” and honored him at the Pierre Hotel in NYC. He was a parishioner of Guardian Angel RC Church in Allendale, a member of the XYZ Club, and a Amelia Gimon Senior Lucan at Saint Luke’s RC Church in Ho-Ho-Kus. Thomas Setnikar of Ridgewood died Aug. 4. He was 74. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Pratt Daniel P. O’Malley Institute, NY and designed may power and manufacturing plants, including the NutraSweet plant, the Splenda plant, one of the first ethanol plants and the first breeder reactor to live on U.S. soil for the U.S. government. David “Dave” Zuidema of Oneonta, New York, formerly of Midland Park, died July 30. He was 69. He had worked as a partner with his father in Zuidema and Son Trucking and Rigging for many years.
