Frank Ralph and Judith Mott Grief of Mahwah recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a dinner party at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts. They were married in 1960 at the Wyckoff Reformed Church. The anniversary celebration was arranged by their son Kenneth Grief and daughter Kristianne Tolgyesi (Mrs. Zsolt) and their families. Also joining the celebration were Roger and Betsy Barr of Upper Saddle River, Bob and Carine Kayer of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, Ruth Van De Flier of Mahwah, Roger and Merle Tanis of Andover, and Matthew Tanis and his fiancé Ashley of Rhode Island. All gathered again the following day at the Massachusetts home of Ken and Juan Baena for a neighborhood gathering and barbecue. Grandchildren Katalin, Alexander, and Sarah also participated. The Griefs are both retired teachers from the Ramsey school system. They were active for many years with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Red Cross medical transport. Judy sang for 30 years in the choir of the First Presbyterian Church in Ramsey, and served several terms as deacon. The couple continues to volunteer with Bergen County 4-H and Meals on Wheels.

married Shawn Conner, son of JoAnne and Bob Conner of Bayville, on May 15 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Ramsey. The Reverend Moacir Weirich officiated. A reception followed at Apple Ridge Country Club in Mahwah. Pam Carloni was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids included Cathy Barbier, sister of the groom; and Kim Kazell, Kelly Kiselius, Darcy Morris, Tara Rolandelli, and Ashton Shaffer. Brother of the groom Rob Conner served as best man. Groomsmen were Tim Jellison, Dave Karis, Matt Larew, Chris Prendergast, John Schutz, and Keith Rutkowski, brother of the bride. The bride is a graduate of Ramsey High School. She received her bachelor’s degree form Wesley College. The groom graduated from Hillsborough High School. The couple honeymooned in Jamaica. They reside in Bud Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Ned Lipes of Singer Island, Florida and Mahwah, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Lynn Lipes, to Luke Jeromy Van Woensel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Van Woensel of Evergreen, Colorado. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy High School, and Skidmore College. She received a doctorate in physical therapy from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York in 2008. She currently works as a physical therapist in Wellington Florida. Her fiancé was the recipient of a golf scholarship to attend Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business in 2003. He is currently pursuing a golf career in Florida. A Florida wedding is planned for February 2011.
