Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • April 7, 2010 Ramsey Seniors’ group announces upcoming trips and events Ramsey’s seniors have planned a bus trip to the United Nations for Monday, April 26. Signup will begin Thursday, April 1 at 10 a.m. in Ramsey Borough Hall. The cost is $65 per person. Checks should be made payable to the Ramsey Senior Center. While at the UN, seniors will visit the Delegates Dining Room, which serves some of the finest cuisine in New York City. Chef Daryl Schembeck brings his years of experience from the Culinary Institute to the United Nations and prepares lunch for UN ambassadors, heads of state, staff members, and the general public on a daily basis. Enjoy a lunch buffet and world class service while taking in the 180 degree views of the East River. Following lunch, there will be a guided tour of the United Nations. Attendees should note that this trip includes a considerable amount of walking. Seniors are also invited to enjoy a day in the New York Botanical Gardens on May 12. Signup begins on April 19 at 10 a.m. in borough hall. The cost is $42 per person. Attendees will tour the Emily Dickinson Garden exhibit and walk among the plants that inspired her poems. The tram ride will includes a stop on Arthur Avenue for dining or browsing the shops. Senior transportation is available to those over the age of 50 who need a ride to the doctor. The senior transportation hotline is (201) 825-3400, extension 277. For $3, a trip to a medical appointment or shopping may be made with the new van with a wheelchair lift. A Meet the Candidates session is planned for the senior center on April 15 at 3:30 p.m. This year’s board of education candidates are incumbents Claudia Monteith and Carrie Williams, and newcomers are Jim Meiman and Tim Finnegan.
