Ramsey schools get boost from student artists
Scenes from last year’s Beefsteak Dinner Dance.
More than a dozen Ramsey schoolchildren will get their first taste of artistic fame on May 8 when the Ramsey Public Education Foundation auctions their creations at its annual spring fundraiser at the Ridgewood Woman’s Club. Sale of the artwork, which represents a range of genres from realism to abstract expressionism, will benefit Ramsey’s public school district, which lost 100 percent of its state funding for 2010-11. The artists, who represent all five of the borough’s schools, donated their work to help the foundation raise money. “The art is stunning, and so is the generosity of the artists,” said Foundation President Sue Gjini. “Anyone would
be proud to own these beautiful pieces of art. I’m so glad the proceeds will go back into Ramsey schools to benefit these kids and their classmates.” The bidding will start at 7 p.m. at the foundation’s yearly Beefsteak Dinner Dance. The Connolly Brothers Band will provide live entertainment. The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood is based at 215 West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood. For a chance to bid, and for an all-you-can-eat steak dinner with beverages, prizes, and danceable music, visit http://www.ramsey.k12.New Jersey.us and click on “Education Foundation.” A pasta substitute is available upon request. Tickets are $65 per person. Reservations are due by April 30. For information, visit sgjini@verizon.net.
