April 21, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 5 Ramsey Borough honors Jankiewicz with Main Street procession The Borough of Ramsey bid farewell to native son Michael D. Jankiewicz at a procession down East Main Street last week. The 23-year-old soldier died April 9, when the Air Force Osprey he was in crashed in Afghanistan. Jankiewicz was a member of the U.S. Army Rangers, the military’s elite rapidstrike force. He was serving a second tour of Afghanistan, after having served twice in Iraq. He was a 2006 graduate of Ramsey High School. On April 15, Jankiewicz was transported from Dover Air Force Base to Ramsey. The Left: The community turned out in force to bid farewell to Michael D. Members of various borough organizations were in attendance, and Main Street was lined with people who turned out to honor Jankiewicz’s sacrifice. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Snieder-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. His family has requested memorial donations be made to the Lead the Way Fund at www.leadthewayfund.org.
