Ramsey April 21, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 3 GOP incumbents file for June 8 primary election Ramsey’s Republican incumbents will run unopposed in the June 8 primary. Mayor Christopher Botta and Council Members Arthur Nalbandian and Vanessa Jachzel filed by last week’s deadline. Barring any challenges from write-in or Independent candidates, the incumbents would also run unopposed for their seats in the November general election. Botta, 43, was elected mayor in 2006. He previously served two terms on the Ramsey Borough Council from 2000 through 2006. He has resided on South Franklin Turnpike since 1995 with his wife, Lisa, and three sons, ages 12, 10 and 8. A Bergen County native, Botta graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell and received his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. He subsequently received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York City. Botta is a practicing attorney with the law firm of Botta & Associates, LLC in Ramsey. He is the municipal prosecutor in Park Ridge and in Paramus. He also serves as a youth ice hockey and soccer coach. He is a parishioner and lector at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. As mayor, he also serves on the Ramsey Library Board and the Ramsey Planning Board, and is chairman of the Ramsey Board of Public Works. Jachzel is a life-long Bergen County resident and moved to Ramsey in 2004. Her three sons, Evan, Eric, and Marc, will attend Ramsey’s public schools next fall. The councilwoman received a BA in English (magna cum laude) from Montclair State College and a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She has been admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. She began her law career by clerking for an Appellate Division judge, then spent eight years in private practice at a New Jersey law firm, specializing in public finance, real estate, and commercial litigation. Jachzel is chairwoman of the council’s Public and Governmental Relations Committee. She is also a member of the council’s Finance Committee and Health, Education and Social Services Committee. She is council liaison to the Ramsey Senior Center Committee, the Ramsey Senior Transportation Committee, and the Ramsey Design Review Board.
