Hazel Mae Altieri, nee La Bar, of Mahwah, formerly of Wayne and Hawthorne, died April 10. She was 62. She is survived by her children John Adams of Hazlet, Brian Adams of Maryland, Kellie Altieri of Mahwah, Jennifer Crawford of Lindenwold, three stepchildren, six grandchildren, and her brothers George and Herb La Bar. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas Altieri, her parents James and Hazel La Bar, her sisters Louise and Gracie, and brother James. James Saint John Hughes of West Grove, Pennsylvania, formerly of Ramsey, died April 10. He was 89. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had spent 25 years in the chemical industry working for DuPont, the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Corporation, and American Cyanamid. After retirement, he became a real estate broker and opened his own office in Ramsey. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Sweeney Hughes, his children Ann Hughes Brueggen of Anderson, Indiana, Peter Saint John Hughes of Redondo Beach, California, and Michael Rice Hughes of Augusta, Georgia, and seven grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Foulk and Grieco Funeral Home in West Grove, Pennsylvania. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Michael D. Jankiewicz of Ramsey died April 9. He was 23. He was an U.S. Army Ranger, the military’s elite rapidstrike force. He had been on a second tour of Afghanistan, after having served twice in Iraq. He was a 2006 graduate of Ramsey High School. He is survived by his mother Serena B. Jankiewicz (nee Friedman) of Ramsey, his father Anthony J. Jankiewicz of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, stepmother Carmen Jankiewicz, his sister Michelle L. Jankiewicz of Midland Park, his step-siblings Hector Emmanuelli and Noemi Cagley, and his grandfather Abraham Friedman. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Snieder-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. In the 1930s, she was a bookkeeper with Metropolitan Life Insurance in Manhattan. She was an artist. She was a former parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes. She is survived by her children Judith Bishop of Miami Beach, Florida and Dr. Roy Pizzarello of New York City, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and her sister Ann Signorelli of Mount Vernon, New York. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the National Guard for 12 years. He served for 10 years as the commandant of the Rockland County Marine Corps League. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW of Midland Park, and Monsey, New York. He served as grand marshal of the Midland Park Memorial Day parade in 2004. He was past president and member of the Model A Ford Club for 50 years. He is survived by his wife Virginia R. Pomroy (nee Colling), his children Ernest J. Pomroy Jr. of Pompton Lakes, Virginia R. Clyne of Sandy Hook, Connecticut, Patricia R. Mercer of Phillipsburg, and Debra S. Michel of Mahwah, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, and his sisters Winifred Buis and Elizabeth Tognetti.
