The registration form is accessible from the recreation section of the borough’s website, www.ramseynj. com. The five-clinic program will be held on the high school lawn on Sundays beginning May 2. Hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. The $20 program fee includes a lacrosse stick. Volunteers are needed to help with this program. Relay for Life plans benefit breakfast The Ramsey Junior Woman’s Club will be participating in Ramsey’s Third Annual Relay for Life (May 21), an overnight event organized by the American Cancer Society. Relay participants celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer and won, and remember loved ones lost. This year the Ramsey Chili’s on Route 17 North is supporting the relay by sponsoring an April 25 Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The cost is $5 per person and includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, bacon, coffee, and juice. All proceeds will be donated directly to Relay for Life and the ACS. Table tennis club forming A new tennis table club for players of all skill levels will hold its organizational meeting at the Eric S. Smith Middle School, 73 Monroe Street, Ramsey, on April 20. The group, sponsored by the Ramsey Recreation Commission, will meet on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m., and will run weekly through early June. Players are invited to bring their own paddles if they have them; if not, paddles and balls will be available. Participation is free of charge. Masons plan Blood Drive Hawthorne Fortitude Masonic Lodge in Ramsey will hold a Blood Drive at the lodge at 24 North Franklin Turnpike, on Tuesday, April 13. The drive will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. To make an appointment to donate, or persons with questions of medical eligibility should call 1-800-933BLOOD (2566). ‘Scoop Night’ benefit announced The annual 31-cent Scoop Night to benefit the National Firefighters Burn Foundation is planned for Wednesday, April 28. The Ramsey Firefighters will be on hand to greet families, offer fire prevention information, run events for children, and share the heritage of the department by showing off some antique trucks that were once used to protect the community. Garry Harr of Baskin Robbins will also be on hand. All proceeds go to help the foundation. Baskin Robbins is located at 233 North Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey. Library news Ramsey Library’s Cozy Circle Times for toddlers through kindergartners will resume on April 19. New registrants are invited to contact Children’s Library Intern Maggie Zambrano. Current participants do not need to reregister. The library is also hosting English as a Second Language classes for Ramsey adults who have some English skills and want to practice vocabulary and speaking skills. Church addresses alcoholism A special Mass followed by a support group meeting for anyone affected by the disease of alcoholism will be celebrated at Saint Paul Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, at noon on Saturday, April 16. Anyone who is concerned about his or her drinking or the drinking habits of a loved one is probably dealing with the disease. Alcoholism is dangerous; it is impossible to successfully deal with it alone. Ramsey Cleanup Day set The Ramsey Environmental Commission’s annual Cleanup Day will be April 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist in the cleanup of all litter and debris accumulated over the long winter season. Gloves, rakes, and brooms will be provided. Sign up for this program the day of the event at the Ramsey Rescue building across from Ramsey High School. All are welcome.
