Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • September 22, 2010 Area On Thursday, Sept. 23 at 10:30 a.m., Friends of West Bergen Mental Healthcare will hold a special meeting at the Ridgewood Library, 125 North Maple Avenue, to launch Friends of West Bergen for 2010-11. West Bergen is a non-profit counseling and psychiatric center that provides services for individuals, children, and families in need. Robin Kazmierczak of Oakland, first vice president of the West Bergen Board of Trustees and chair of the Development Committee, explained that the meeting has multiple purposes. “Our goal,” Kazmierczak said, “is to share with you West Bergen’s programs and services, to highlight exciting and new fun events being planned, and to explore a number of volunteer activities.” Kazmierczak further explained that the vision for Friends of West Bergen began several years ago. “We need the community’s help in order to continue to aid and support the agency’s goals,” she added. “Please Community invited to Friends of West Bergen meeting join us in advocating for West Bergen in our communities, increasing awareness of the agency and its services, and assisting in generating financial support.” Members of the community who wish to attend this week’s meeting are asked to contact Carol Cohen at (201) 444-3550 or e-mail her at ccohen@westbergen.org. Cohen will also be able to answer questions. West Bergen is a non-profit organization that provides a wide range of psychiatric and counseling services for all age groups with various levels of need. Mohamed Khalil will share his story as an artist, display his artwork, and then turn bits and pieces of found objects into a sculpture at the Oct. 6 meeting of the Women’s Guild of Ridgewood. The meeting will be held at the Old Paramus Reformed Church at 1:15 p.m. The public is invited. Khalil’s artistic style is influenced by things dear to him: city surroundings in Paterson where he works at the Artist to address Women’s Guild of Ridgewood museum, and his Middle Eastern heritage. Nominated by Congressman William Pascrell Jr., he was given the honor of creating a Christmas tree ornament for the 2009 White House. A freewill offering will be appreciated. The event will be held in the church’s barrier-free Education Building at 660 East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood. Call (201) 444-5933.
