Parents, teachers, local business people, students, staff, and all other members of the community are encouraged to participate in making proposals for projects or programs that are in keeping with the foundation’s mission to enhance and broaden the educational experience of all students attending Allendale’s Hillside and Brookside schools. Town-wide Garage Sale set The Allendale Woman’s Club invites local bargain hunters to the Seventh Annual Town-wide Garage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 25. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, Sept. 26). Maps highlighting the sale locations will be available the day of the event at Allendale Borough Hall, 500 West Crescent Avenue. This once-a-year shopping extravaganza features a huge collection of treasures at bargain basement prices all in one town. Half of the proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit Rebuilding Together Bergen County (www.rebuildingtogetherbergen. org) and the remaining half will be used for community service and other local beneficiaries. Girl Scouts hold membership drive The Allendale Girl Scouts are now accepting registrations for 2010-11. Girls and their families may sign up as members of a Girl Scout troop, or as individual Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey offers many exciting programs for girls of all ages. They will be bartending at the Allendale Bar and Grill’s third floor bar area on Friday, Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the “Rose Foundation of Haiti” during this event. Approximately three million people were affected by the quake. Current and topical books, tapes, and videos for adults and children may be purchased at bargain prices in the lobby of the Lee Memorial Library at 500 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. On display are many children’s books, paperbacks, fiction, non-fiction, and current bestsellers. The sale is ongoing and the shelves are restocked daily. Books are priced from 25 cents to $1. The sale is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Proceeds from the sale go directly to the library for the purchase of new materials. Clothes Line Thrift Shop reopens The Clothes Line Thrift Shop is now open Wednesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on four Saturday sale days during the year.
